New Partnership Between the Child Rights Action Hub DRC Partners and Bon Pasteur to Strengthen Support for Children in ASM Communities

The Child Rights Action Hub DRC is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Bon Pasteur Kolwezi, an affiliate of the Good Shepherd Sisters NGO that supports women, girls and children from artisanal mining communities in the DRC with access to education, alternative livelihoods and social protection. This collaboration marks an important step toward more coordinated action to prevent and remediate child labour in artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Both organisations share a common goal: ensuring that children and youth in mining areas are protected, supported and given real alternatives to hazardous work. While Bon Pasteur focuses on building and strengthening community-based child protection systems — including formal education, catch-up schools, and vocational training — the Child Rights Action Hub supports companies with their human rights due diligence and works to prevent and remediate child labour through individualised case management, youth employment initiatives and capacity building of business actors.

This partnership is grounded in complementarity and shared purpose. By building bridges between our respective networks, resources and areas of expertise, the Child Rights Action Hub and Bon Pasteur aim to create stronger community linkages and more sustainable outcomes for children and families.

Through this collaboration, the two organisations will work closely to strengthen local capacity and create seamless pathways for child protection and remediation. The Action Hub will provide case management training to Bon Pasteur’s social workers, expanding the network of skilled professionals able to offer individualised support to children in the remediation programme. At the same time, both organisations will align their programmes to ensure that children supported by The Hub can access Bon Pasteur’s educational and vocational training opportunities, enabling more comprehensive and sustainable outcomes for children and families in artisanal mining communities.

Together, Bon Pasteur and the Child Rights Action Hub are working to create a more connected and effective response to child labour in the DRC’s copper and cobalt supply chains, one that leverages existing community systems and partnerships to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and youth.
