Five New Members Join The Centre’s Child Rights and Business Working Group

The Centre’s Child Rights and Business (CRIB) Working Group has been running since 2009, bringing companies together to collaborate, share best practice, and access the latest information and insights related to child rights.

CRIB membership also includes access to The Centre's Child Labour Rapid Response service, which guarantees The Centre's readiness to respond immediately whenever a case of suspected child labour is reported.

The CRIB Working Group has grown into a 20+ strong collaborative platform, whose members represent major brands, global retailers and companies spanning numerous industry sectors. The Centre was pleased to welcome five new members in 2021, spanning online retail, food & beverage, forestry and toys. Among the new members are Mekong Timber Plantations, Amazon and The Very Group.

Mekong Timber Plantations (MPT) is the first Laotian company to join the group. MPT and the Centre have been collaborating around child labour prevention and young worker protection and inclusion in MPTs supply chain in Laos. Meanwhile Amazon and The Very Group are new clients to The Centre. We and the other members look forward to working closer with our new members on all issues relating to child rights and family friendly workplaces.

Commenting on the new memberships, Mark Robertson, Senior Vice President at The Centre said “We are delighted to welcome these five companies as new working group members. Their membership serves as a demonstration of these companies’ ongoing commitment to address risks and advance child rights”.
