Job Title: Senior Research Technical Expert (qualitative/quantitative)

The Centre for Child Rights and Business (The Centre) is one of the few organisations worldwide that focuses solely on child rights within the business environment. Over more than 15 years, we have supported thousands of businesses to improve their positive impact on children, communities and workers involved in global supply chains. The role of Research Technical Expert is to support the Research Director in projects including but not limited to:
Human rights impact assessments
Child rights impact assessments
Research studies related to child rights in supply chains
Internal projects associated with the development of The Centre’s research and data collection methodologies
This role is a full-time post.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes but is not limited to the following specific tasks:
Design comprehensive research frameworks, including qualitative (interview/FGD guides) and quantitative (statistically representative surveys) instruments
Lead primary data collection employing mixed-methods techniques, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, case studies, and large-scale surveys
Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify trends, correlations, and significance within supply chain data
Synthesise complex qualitative and quantitative datasets into actionable, evidence-based insights, professional reports, and client presentations
Design and manage desk-research frameworks for secondary data collection, specifically relating to UNGPs, OECD guidelines, and ESG/CSDDD regulations
Own end-to-end project management for 2-3 concurrent research projects, including timeline tracking, budget oversight, resource allocation, and client milestone reporting
Lead internal methodology projects aimed at enhancing The Centre's proprietary data collection and analysis techniques
Mentor and guide junior Research Technical Experts, ensuring quality control across all deliverables
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education and work experience
At least 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience, preferably with at least 3 years of experience in corporate social compliance, sustainability, human rights/child rights and business or a relevant field
Master’s degree in social sciences, business, sciences or related fields of supply chains and business consultancy
Practical experience in carrying out research projects in consultancy or similar organisations.
Experienced in being a project lead for research projects
Work experience in a similar role in small teams and adapting to working with other country offices virtually
Analysis/Problem Solving/Innovation
A high level of analytical and problem-solving skills is required in order to ‘ask the right question’
Highly attention to details
Ability to systematically analyse both quantitative and qualitative data effectively and efficiently
Ability to develop evidence-based high-quality qualitative research findings
Ability to turn data into actionable insights and recommendations
Highly motivated to strive for high-quality research outputs
Planning/Organising
Strong organisation and planning skills to ensure a forward-thinking mindset in project management (internal and external projects)
Systematic approach to compiling the researched material, e.g. desk review, data collection, etc.
Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects effectively
Communication/Interpersonal Skills
Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of forms, including email, report writing, face-to-face communication and formal presentations
Superior command of both verbal and written English; knowledge of another Asian or European language would be a plus
Professional presentation and service delivery of projects to clients at all times
Strong client management skills to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery
Teamwork
Teamwork skills are essential, as most work will be undertaken in a small team environment; however, the ability to work autonomously is also a high priority
Ability to demonstrate team spirit and be a reliable team member even when working under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Strong leadership skills in managing internal stakeholders of multidisciplinary teams
Candidates with less than 5 years of experience may be considered for the Research Technical Expert position, with a corresponding adjustment to scope and compensation
