Supporting workers to thrive at work also means recognising the responsibilities they carry outside the workplace. For working parents, having the knowledge and support to navigate family life can make a meaningful difference to their well-being, as well as to their ability to balance work and family responsibilities.
This August, The Centre for Child Rights and Business facilitated a Training-of-Trainers (TOT) on Parenting Skills at Maxport in Vietnam, as part of the WeCare programme implemented by The Centre for a European brand.
WeCare is The Centre’s family-friendly workplace programme, supporting factories to create more supportive working environments for parents, female workers, young workers and their families. In 2026, the brand and The Centre are partnering to pilot WeCare across three factories in three regions of Vietnam, bringing practical support on parenting, maternity protection and worker well-being closer to workers and their families.
From parenting support to factory ownership
At Maxport, the journey began with a Working Parent Training (WPT) session for 50 working parents from different teams and departments.
Participants explored practical topics including preparing for parenthood, understanding and communicating with their children, recognising and preventing harm, and making the most of quality time together.
The room was filled with parenting stories, personal experiences, questions and lively discussion. It was a useful reminder that there is no single formula for parenting, and that building confidence and skills is something we all continue to learn along the way.
The following sessions shifted the focus from participating in the training to building the factory’s own capacity to deliver it.
Maxport’s internal trainers practiced facilitating the Parenting Skills content, received feedback from The Centre’s trainers, and worked together to develop an action plan for bringing the training to more workers.
This is an important step towards sustainability. Rather than relying on external trainers, Maxport is building the internal capacity to make Parenting Skills training part of its ongoing worker support and training programme.
One of the workers who participated in the training said:

“This was actually my first time attending a parenting skills training. Before this, I mostly picked up tips from social media or TikTok. Today, I learnt a lot, especially about how to better understand my child and how to talk to them about sex and growing up. Those were the parts that really stood out to me."

About WeCare
The WeCare Family-Friendly Workplaces Programme offers a package of activities tailored to the needs of working parents, their children and young workers, while also responding to the business needs of factories.
The programme supports factories to strengthen policies, practices and programmes that enable workers to balance their responsibilities at work and at home, support their children’s well-being, and pursue their own personal development goals.
By bringing practical support closer to workers and families, WeCare aims to help create more family-friendly workplaces and contribute to stronger worker well-being across supply chains.
