The Centre is Collaborating with Wilmar International and BSR to Strengthen Child Rights in Palm Oil Plantations in Indonesia

The Centre for Child Rights & Business is delighted to collaborate with Wilmar International and BSR (Business for Social Responsibility) to deliver work to protect and strengthen child rights at palm oil plantation sites in Indonesia.

The collaboration encompasses the piloting of the Child Protection Policy Implementation Manual on plantations in Indonesia and Malaysia in partnership with BSR and other partners, whereby The Centre will be responsible for implementation in Indonesia. The manual is applicable to the wider agriculture industry and aims to guide upstream oil palm operations in Indonesia and Malaysia, which include Wilmar’s suppliers, towards a better understanding of the steps required to protect and safeguard children’s rights. The practical applicability of the manual will be tested and assessed in an effort to build capacity within the industry to address child protection.
