On October 30, 2025, The Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) and The Centre for Child Rights and Business (The Centre), with funding and support from the European Union, officially launched the Child Rights Action Hub in Multan, Pakistan. The event marked the second Action Hub launch in Pakistan, following Karachi’s in September, reinforcing nationwide efforts to help businesses strengthen human rights due diligence (HRDD) and advance child rights in the country’s leather and textile sectors.
The Child Rights Action Hub is a multistakeholder initiative designed to help businesses address complex challenges in global sourcing. It promotes transparent, compliant and resilient supply chains by providing practical solutions and support to suppliers, expert guidance and opportunities for collective action. Through this initiative, local companies are supported in identifying risks, building capacity, and strengthening accountability across their operations, thus enabling them to meet growing due diligence expectations from international buyers and regulators.
The launch event brought together stakeholders from government, industry associations, civil society, and the private sector to discuss the role of responsible business in driving sustainable change and to highlight the opportunities to strengthen business and exports to the EU through this initiative. It also highlighted how the initiative can help Pakistan’s suppliers enhance compliance, strengthen their reputation, and expand export opportunities to the EU market.
Modelled on successful initiatives in Bangladesh, Malaysia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Action Hub has demonstrated how partnerships between businesses, governments and civil society can create real, lasting impact. These collaborations have improved supply chain visibility, strengthened worker protections, expanded youth employment opportunities, and established trusted remediation mechanisms rooted in international child rights standards that are benefiting hundreds of children and families.
The Multan Child Rights Action Hub provides:
Capacity-building for suppliers to integrate human rights safeguards into daily operations.
Dialogue platforms for businesses, government, and civil society to enhance accountability.
Remediation mechanisms and case management for child rights and labour violations.
Vocational training and youth employment initiatives to deliver tangible social benefits that connect vulnerable youth to safe, age-appropriate work.

“At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to make sure our businesses grow with integrity, our youth find opportunity in our industries, and our global partners see Pakistan as a region that leads by example. The Child Rights Action Hub is our collective pathway to that future.” Ahila Thillainathan, Sri Lanka and Pakistan Country Director of The Centre for Child Rights and Business

International buyers and their suppliers are encouraged to join as Action Hub participants by investing, nominating suppliers to join the initiative, and helping extend its impact across Pakistan’s sourcing landscape.
