Meet Our Child Rights Action Hub DRC Case Managers: Vanessa, DRC

Vanessa Mofya became a case manager for Child Rights Action Hub DRC in 2025. She currently supports four orphaned boys and one girl as part of their remediation plans, ensuring psychosocial follow-up, family reintegration and school reintegration. Prior to this, she had already worked with the Action Hub in 2024 as a field enumerator during the household study conducted in the Tenke Fungurume Mining SA (TFM) concession, which gave her deeper insight into the realities faced by families affected by mining activities.

Thanks to the partnership between the Action Hub and TFM, Vanessa benefited from several training courses that strengthened her professional skills, including child rights, case management, child protection, financial management, and administration. These learning opportunities allowed her to thrive in her role, developing an approach that is both rigorous and compassionate.

She has a particular passion for children who have been abandoned or subjected to the worst forms of child labour, and she is deeply committed to offering them a dignified and safe alternative. Her achievements include the reunification of four children who had lost their mothers with their paternal families, as well as successful mediation between paternal and maternal relatives, fostering stability and cohesion around the children. What she loves most about this work is helping children break free from the mining cycle, catch up academically, and dream of a better life. She finds joy in seeing them return to school and rediscover their smiles.
