The Child Rights Action Hub DRC and The Centre for Child Rights and Business have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SLR Better Mining to strengthen collaboration on identification and access to remedy for child labour cases found on ASM mine sites in the DRC.

As part of the partnership, the Action Hub provided training to Better Mining teams and ASM co-operatives on child rights, child labour, child safeguarding and child identification and notification procedures. The collaboration aims to strengthen the prevention, identification, reporting and remediation of child labour cases at mine sites where SLR Better Mining is engaged for ongoing monitoring, in line with international responsible business standards, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines.

Through the collaboration, SLR Better Mining will also refer identified child labour cases to the Action Hub for follow-up and remediation, including ensuring children are reintegrated into long-term education or skills-building opportunities.

The Action Hub welcomes this collaboration as part of its broader approach to building a strong network of expert organisations and local partners working together to address child labour risks collectively and strengthen child protection efforts across mining communities.
