Job Title: Senior PM for DRC Child Rights Action Hub
Department: Service and Products
Location: Kolwezi, Lualaba Province, DR Congo
Reports to: Director of Services Europe, Africa, Americas (EAA)
The Centre for Child Rights and Business (The Centre) is one of the very few organisations in the world working exclusively on child rights issues in the business context. The DRC Child Rights Action Hub (The Hub) is a not-for-profit association established in the DRC in 2023 by The Centre and six local civil society organisations, with the objective of supporting the prevention and remediation of child labour associated with cobalt and copper supply chains in Lualaba Province. The Centre act as the managing organisation of The Hub.
The role of the Senior PM for the DRC Child Rights Action Hub includes managing the governance and legal operations of The Hub; overseeing, and sometimes project-managing, programmes ; stakeholder engagement and outreach in line with the long-term strategy. The Senior PM of The Hub also manages The Centre’s local staff and oversees the management of the office and legal entity.
This is a full-time post, based in Kolwezi, Lualaba province, DR Congo.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes but is not limited to the following specific tasks:
1. Reporting to the Managing Organisation’s global structure (The Centre) and being responsible for the implementation of the strategy, daily operations and office management of The Hub, including but not limited to:
Represent The Hub in DRC, in meetings and conferences.
Drafts the yearly goals, strategies and budget of The Hub for approval by The Centre and the Managing Board.
Manages, oversees and supports as needed implementation of The Hub's strategy and activities linked to remediation and prevention, including by overseeing timely and qualitative implementation of all programmes and client contracts.
Supports the Global Director of Child Labour Remediation (CLR) in implementing the CLR programme in close collaboration with the DRC case co-ordinator/s and network of case managers and other operational partners to ensure qualitative service in line with the policies and processes of The Hub.
Oversee the legal and financial aspects of running The Hub and office in DRC, in close collaboration with The Centre’s admin and finance team.
Ensures timely reporting to and meetings with the Managing Board, the Advisory Board and the Financial Committee.
Establishes a collaborative network around The Hub in collaboration with other partners involved in combating child labour, to ensure alignment and leverage synergies.
Ensures integration with government policies and structures, including informing the department of Social Affairs & Gender, Family and Children of children in our programmes.
2. Manage and implement projects in DR Congo to guarantee the smooth implementation of the projects, including
Prepare work plans and submit project-related reports for clients (e.g. progress report, baseline/endline assessment reports, impact reports, etc.) and for internal The Centre (e.g. KPIs, project status updates).
Stakeholder engagement to ensure programmes are well-anchored with key community, supply chain and government actors and other initiatives, supporting smooth implementation and sustainability of efforts.
Conduct and facilitate training/capacity building/workshop as required by the project.
Build capacity and control the work quality of external consultants/implementing partners/local collaborators throughout projects.
Ensure regular reviews and adjustments are made based on operational matters to ensure optimum results. Bring to the attention of the Director of Services, EAA, all challenges on time and propose solutions and alternative strategies to achieve results.
Contribute to the creation and sharing of knowledge by summarising and documenting results, lessons learned, and good practices from the implementation of the project.
3. Support for business development, e.g. exploring cooperation opportunities with local social organisations and related service providers, supporting proposal development, seeking funds, etc.
4. Participate in identifying and connecting with relevant partners, including local governmental agencies, sectoral associations, international and national NGOs, government entities, educational institutions, commercial service providers and trainers, etc.
5. Participate and represent The Centre and/or The Hub in events, conferences, and meetings as decided in cooperation with the Director of Services EAA.
6. Regular calls with The Centre’s colleagues globally and in DR Congo.
7. Require travelling from time to time (mostly domestic).
8. Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
University degree or higher in social science, business development or business management.
A minimum of 10 years of proven experience in a similar role with international exposure.
Proven leadership and management capabilities, and ability to navigate a complex organisation with many and various stakeholders.
Proven business administrative experience; having experience from managing financial and legal aspects of operations in DRC is a plus.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; strong and proven skills as a trainer and facilitator are preferred.
Good command of both verbal and written English and French, knowledge of local languages and dialects a plus.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Highly trustworthy and capable of handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
Solid problem-solving and team management abilities.
Good computer skills, Microsoft office etc
